Hi all,

Im planning to buy a new PC and want to be able to use Vista and XP on the same machine. I don't have to be able to switch between them constantly/easily, but both OSs MUST have good performance (I'm getting a quad-core :D )

I'm currently thinking a dual-boot scenario between Vista and XP is the way to go, but the other option is to install XP on Virtual PC (or VMWare WS) and access XP through Vista. How easy is a dual-boot system to set up? I'm thinking 2x250GB HDs will do the job nicely (1 for Vista, the other for XP)

Which is the best way to go - dualboot or virtual?

I'm presuming you are going to install XP first? Afterwards, when you install Vista, you have an option to not fully install it (i.e not wipe xp off the system) Vista has its own dual-boot system that it uses, and yes it is very easy to set up and use. You wouldn't need another HDD for vista unless you're going to have a lot of files on your lone HDD. I would say you should install it dualboot.
