right I have 4 philips monitors. I want to open 3 Excel spreadsheets at the same time. Currently when I do it the latter opened file takes the focus in the existing window.

How do I set Excel up so that when I open the individual spreadsheet files they open in their own window and I can move them to whichever monitor I want.

cheers

Hi Chief,

I can't help you but i would like to know the solution, currently i have to have a spreadsheet open in openoffice and one in Excel, as i don't use complex formulae or macros this works for me, and i think openoffice allows multiple windows

you could try this from google groups I haven't used it yet

Windows groups Excel workbooks by default (one entry on the taskbar which may have multiple entries)

To stop Windows from grouping similar applications do this:

1. Right click on an empty space on the taskbar
2. Select "properties"
3. Untick "Group similar taskbar buttons"
4. Click "Apply"
5. Click "OK"

This should allow all Excell workbooks to have their own entry on the taskbar and make moving them easier.
