Hi, I am helping a neighbour with his infected computer and the main thing on it is Antivirgear, must have come in with a trojan. Has anyone had any experience using Smitfraud.exe to remove it, and does that work?

If you run Spybot, spyware Doc (from my sig) , Super Antispyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/), also run Ccleaner and Nod32 , after diabling System Restore, that should get rid of it.

Do a clean up with all the above and post back a Hijack Log after.

If you have Nod32 installed you cant use Smitfraudfix - Nod detects it as a virus and destroys it if you try to download.

I ran RogueRemover, AdAware SE, and Ccleaner and those seemed to get rid of all the crap. His computer seems to run an awful lot quicker now!
