Hi all,

I have an Epson C67 USB-only printer. Currently, if one of the 4 PCs on the network wants to print a document, the machine the printer is connected to has to be booted up.

Is there a way to get around this limitation (I was thinking a USB>Ethernet adapter - do these exist?). i want each PC to be able to print whether or not the printer-connected PC is booted or not.

I'd prefer not to buy a new printer if possible!

Thx in advance

Get a router with a built in print server. Dlink and Linksys have several decent ones around.

Yup.

You'll need something like these (http://search.dse.co.nz/search.php?sessionid=4784743a0110e95e273fc0a87f330 6b0&site=&w=printer+server&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=Go)

Just be careful with this.
Not all USB printers can be connected to a print server.
A lot of them use the PC to process the print jobs etc before they get sent to the printer. (GDI Printer or host-based printer)
I have a Canon iP5000 and while it worked when attached to a router with a print server in it, it was painfully slow.
It would take about 5 mins just to open the print driver settings!
And even longer to print!
