On the basis of brand , Evercool is a very good brand. However without any specs we cannot compare both fans.

I have used Vantec fans in the past, they are extremly good - a bit expensive though.

79 CFM iper minute is very high, a good amount of air is moved. But at 36dBa it is very loud. If you can sacrifice quietness with CFM, then go for Evercool.

Meh 3x 120mm fans are overkill I reckon. I have my PC below with the overclocked 8800GTS and I've only got 2x 120mm fans. And you have an aftermarket CPU cooler.

Im assuming that those temps are idle, how much higher are your temps with intensive use?

That CPU cooler of yours is MASSIVE, given you have applied it properly and have good general ventilation you shouldn't need 3 extra 120mm fans.

Two side notes, You got a celeron??? !!! , instead of upping your ram why don't you get a P4 - the speed difference will be much more significant.

secondly, is your processor 64bit , and are you using a 64bit OS, because otherwise all that RAM is going to be no use to your OS.

SO YOU THINK JUST A FRONT 120MM AND A REAR 120MM WILL DO ME FINE. i HAVE A SPACE FOR A 120MM SIDE FAN AND ALSO 3X 120MM FANS IN THE TOP OF CASE. i HAVE THE AC Ryan RadGrillz - Stripes 3x120 Aluminium Black ON THE TOP WITH JUST A FILTER IN EACH 120MM HOLE. NOT GOING TO INSTALL FANS IN THE TOP OF CASE. oNLY IN THE FRONT AND BACKE AND SIDE MAYBE DO I NEED THE SIDE ONE iT WOULD BLOW ON THE TOP OF THE CPU COOLER.

Temps are ide website surfing temps. have watched dvds and played NFS Prostreet and used photoshop cs3 and the cpu temp stay under 60c I have both 92mm fans on the cpu cooler in push pull mode.

Was wanting to replace the 80mm fans to 120mm's.

Yeh Celeron D 315 2.26mhz socket 478

Only xp home sp2 32bit and vista 64bit. Can windows xp pro do 64bit? I cannot remember.

if you have the locations for fans fill them with fans or block off the unneeded ones.

the front/rear/side locations really need fans. however if you want to reduce noise remove the side one and BLOCK OFF the side vent.

with the amount of HD's you have you need good airflow around the drives.

not sure on the case but if you have fan loctaions on top i would block them off.

Yeah I think 1x 120mm intake and 1x120mm outtake is enough.

Sweet mite get xp pro as i want to upgrade from home and i no SP3 is out next year.

Yeh 4 hdds have a 80mm fan blowing on them can install a 120mm infront of them and 2 are in removable mobile hdd racks that have a fan in them. So If i had just the front and back 120mm fans I would have to seal the side fan hole not just have a fan grill there with a filter or is it better to have it sealed?

SP3 is for XP Pro and Home 32 bit. Not for the 64 bit version.

So, you'll have to get XP Pro 32 bit, if u want SP3.

SP2 for x64 only came out in March this year, 350mb!

Given your current temps, i would consider not even upgrading the fans. Your after market CPU cooler is massive, and your current config seems to be doing a good enough job.

27-12-2007, 05:39 PM
yeh it is massive lol daul 92mm fans on it. setting at 50c right now set round 44c upto 55c im just surfing net listening to mucis windows media player and got photoshop running. its using 709mb ram.

Have you got any photos of your systems?

those are 90mm fans?
is that one of those idiot cases that you can mount different sized fans in the same location, so if you use a smaller fan that just blows air out of the case and sucks it straight back in only to blow it back out ??

check the air speed of the PSU. if its the same as the 120mm fans then you can fit a side fan as well as front fan without a problem.

It can only take 120mm front and rear 90mm side but i have made it to a 120mm and the top i have installed the a. c. ryan 3x 120mm fan grill with filters so if i ever install watercooling i can. The fan on the psu is a Silent 14cm ball-bearing fan SPEED: 1900 RPM (10%) AIR FLOW: 82 CFM 16dB at 1300RPM.

90mm fans are on my cpu cooler.

With your current temps i don't think you would ever need to consider more fans. If you upgrade to a P4 maybe you can put another fan in it.... but other then that just enjoy :)

tru mite look into the p4 chips. Mainly use the pc for photoshop and videos photo and website editing and listening to music and watching movies. but like games to, But who wouldnt like games lol. :P

sounds like the 90 on the side might have been ok.

unfortunately the 3x fan grill is not a good thing unless your actually using it. if possible install the standard top back on or block those vents off.

most people seam to think your temps are good, i don't. its been fairly cool lately and your temps are a bit high for such cool weather. you can probably put that down to those 90mm fans shortcutting through the vents. the 120's should fix that.

if at all possible i would have 2x fans in front of those harddrives or even a funnel to force the air over all those HD's.

Can only have 1 120mm front fan. CPU temp stanys at 50c just about all the time. I live in Rangiora just out of Christchurch We have had sum 30c sunny hot days here and the cpu didnt get over 60c stayed in the 50c's.

This is a image of the case cooling. my system is not in it yet the temps are off the case my system is in at the moment running 80mm fans.
http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/icutebluezone/mixed/cooling.jpg

The top of case the 3 120mm holes i could easyly install a sheet of 15%tinted Arylic i have here to block the fan holes from the inside and still have the grill on the outside.

Upgrade: The cpu cooler has the 2x90mm fans on it.

yeah fit the side one and block the top 3 (fit arylic and put some cool lights under it)

that way its 2x fans in = 2x fans out :)
