You should have added this to your other thread (http://pressf1.co.nz/showthread.php?t=85743)

Mine is parked - with Freeparking - so I'll be interested to see what answers you get here.

It was an impulse buy (for " the future") & frankly I haven't so far needed offers of multiple email addresses or a website.
Hence the parking...

But I'm open to suggestions - like you.

i know.....i should hav added to my other post, but its kind of different question i thought. being a teenager, and struggling to get employment, i now own aidanmacphail.com (my name) so a personal site would be good

"Parked" means that you have reserved the domain name and no-body can use it or take it away from you as long as you pay and keep it going.

There are exceptions...but you should not have to worry about hacks and theft yet....but thefts of domains have happened..especially if you don't check it once in a while.

I was fortunate enough to get one with "Hendrix" in the name and I am getting offers to buy it for substantially larger sums of money that I paid for it..Kinda neat.

At this point, you can leave it parked, open the e-mail account most domain hosts have to offer and upgrade for free or $$ as the company told you about when you signed up.

I made an "overnight" webpage just to get things going..but I am going back to use their tools to make mine as I see fit.

I used GoDaddy for mine...so far, so good. I got 5 years for the price of one and I thought it was so cheap that I bought four domains.

If you want to make use of your domain without committing to web-hosting costs, there's a few things you can do with it for free.

Firstly you could associate it with a blogging service, both Blogger (http://help.blogger.com/bin/topic.py?topic=12451) and Tumblr (http://www.tumblr.com/help#custom_domains) support this. I can vouch for Tumblr as a great and easy to use service.

Lastly, you could set up a Google Apps (https://www.google.com/a/) account and use your domain with it. This would give you dashboard access to Google's suite of apps including Google Docs, Calendar and Gmail, meaning you could have a me@aidanmacphail.com email address handled by Gmail with access to POP, IMAP, mass storage and other standard Gmail features.

You definitely have options.
