Uninstall ALL versions of Sun Java. Latest version is in my sig, get trojan remover and rogue remover in my sig as well.

Update both then click on scan. Then select all options, under the utilities menu in trojan remover.

Then install an AV program and a firewall.

Looks like Ultimate Defender is rogue software. Rogue remover should remove it.

Hey Speedy. The Java link in your sig takes you to the Java download page which could be confusing. Maybe your link should take you to this page.

Did you have an issue with svchost.exe rumba? Or did you just think it was suspicious? svchost is a windows app that runs other apps. I'm just wondering what help you actually wanted with it, or if you did.

Thank you for the help Speedy, but it hasn't worked yet. I'm re-doing the steps. xD

And I read about about scvchost, apparently that is the bad one and the good one is scYchost? *Shrug*
The real problem is UltimateDefender, guess I should of put that in the title. 'Doh!

Edit : I've also noticed it won't let me go to the control pannel / edit user accounts.
Is this conncected?

EDIT : And sorry, my bad I missed the V on my title but not in my post.

Did u tick ALL of the entries I posted?? And get trojan remover as well?

Rumba
19-12-2007, 12:16 PM
Yep I got Trojan Remover, although it stopped halfway last time I did it.
I'm trying again now and seems to be working.
And the yellow triangle went after I hovered over it.

OK, now I did a full Trojan Remover scan.
Then it restarted my comp, but the triangle is still there.

Would it be easier to just download UltimateDefender and just remove it, as there are ways to?

And Rogue Remover says its removed it, but when I do another scan it comes up again.

Edit :

I get a windows-type popup saying :

Windows Security Alert

Warning! Potential Spyware Operation!
Your computer is making unauthorized copies of your system and Internet files. Run full scans now to pervent unauthorized any access to your files! Click here to download spyware remover ...

(Note, pervet is not a typo xD)

This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

^ I get that message when I try to get to Control pannel or RUN any of the control pannel..Sub-sections on RUN.

And I actually haven't got Ultimate Defender, isn't that link you gave for if you downloaded it?

Speedy Gonzales
19-12-2007, 12:53 PM
Did u do what I said in the PM u sent??

And did u select all options under utilities in trojan remover?

No the link I gave is how to remove it not how to download it or install it.

Well didnt u say u HAD Ultimate defender in a previous post?

Rumba
19-12-2007, 12:57 PM
Yeah I did what you said, and I'm in Safe Mode now, but like I said it won't let me do ANYTHING control pannel related.

And OK I followed that link too and it said :
Windows cannot find 'C:\Progam' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

When I tried doing the RUN thing to remove it.
(C:\Program Files\Ultimate Defender\Uninstall.exe)

And sorry I didn't make it that clear, but I keep getting the bubble of text telling me to download it and the pop-ups telling me to, but I haven't actually followed the links/text so I haven't actually downloaded the stuff.

What I was trying to say is :
If I download it, then remove it..Will the triangle and the text and the pop-ups go away?

Speedy Gonzales
19-12-2007, 01:02 PM
BUT have u selected all the options under utilities, in trojan remover.

You DIDNT say whether you did this or not.

That MAY restore the control panel. You have to select them for trojan emover to fix it.

Get ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com)

Install it run it click on run cleaner. Then go to tools / startup. Tell us whats in here.

And post another log, so I can see that you were listening.

You did tick fix checked after u ticked the entries in the previous log didnt u?

Rumba

And yes I did all the things under utilites, changed IE home etc.
(Did it again)

We're going round in circles.

And youre not listening. The entries I told u to tick 3 times are still there.

Get someone who knows what theyre doing to fix this computer.

And tell them to do what I've told u to tick and delete.

Sorry, I really am..
I didn't know it would be such a big thing.

When I check, do I click fixed check or just leave them checked and re-scan or what?

Would it be easier to just F5 it at the start and start over?

Speedy Gonzales
19-12-2007, 02:10 PM
You tick the entries I posted, then tick fix checked.

It should remove them

Or use ccleaner.

Go to tools / startup.

Highlight these entries, that have these in them

Click on delete entry for all 6

Reboot. Then see what happens

C:\WINDOWS\system32\printer.exe

"C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

"C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

"C:\PROGRA~1\MESSEN~1\Msmsgs.exe" /background

C:\Program Files\LOVEFiLM International\Lovefilm Download Manager\Download Manager.exe

C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolvs.exe

Thats better

Tick this one in hijackthis and then tick fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Printer] C:\WINDOWS\system32\printer.exe

Then boot into safe mode, and search for and delete:

printer.exe, shell.exe (if its there), and spoolvs.exe

Then reboot.

Control panel work now??

If not deleting the above 2 / 3 files may fix it.

Thats better, tick this entry, (this wasnt posted before, but I think its nasty), then tick fix checked too.

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wowfx.dll

Boot into safe node then delete this file too.

See if things work then.

And uninstall ALL versions of Java. Run ccleaner tools / uninstall. Uninstall all Java entries.

Latest version is in my sig

That one wouldn't go away, I keep ticking it, fix, scan again but it doesn't move.

Boot into safe mode then and delete it. You may have to show all files.

Bet it wont come back then. Make sure system restore is still disabled.

I'm pretty sure system restore is, but when I checked (right click on my comp) it tells me two times that I can't and talk to the admin etc.

And I just tried it in safe mode, was I meant to be doing the same thing?
I ticked it etc, and look on CCleaner for anything.

Speedy Gonzales

I would install Avast Home (http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe) <-- this is the direct link

Its free, but you have to register (http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php) it to get a 18 mth licence / serial.

Install it then update it. Then do a scan. See what else that picks up, after u delete wowfx.dll in safe mode (if it deletes).

No go to start/search. Search for wowfx.dll

If its there delete it.

It wont be in startup in ccleaner.

I tried it in Safe mode like you said, searched for it, deleted it.
Then it came up again when I searched for it.
So can it not be deleted? Or is there something else I need to do?

Speedy Gonzales
19-12-2007, 03:47 PM
Boot into safe mode, go to start/run, type regedit.

Go to where bevy said it loads.

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProv iders\SecurityProviders

If wowfx.dll apears under here.

Double click on the SecurityProviders entry in the right window, and delete its filename DON'T delete the SecurityProviders entry itself (in the left window) as it looks like this entry contains other files

(like these, dont delete these msapsspc.dll, schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll).

Also look for the files Bevy posted

53261691.DAT
42836685.SVD
26235911.DAT
30074248.SVD
75547737.DLL

Delete them

HKLM is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

In BOOT.INT?
That is on /SAFEBOOT

(Haven't unticked anything, but changed to safeboot today)

Speedy Gonzales

You can press F8 (hold F8 down), after u reboot and select safe mode.

Are you in NZ?? If u r where?

What version of XP have you got?? Pro or Home??

If u want I'll see if I can log into your system with a program called Crossloop (https://www.crossloop.com/landing.htm) and check it out.

Thats if I can connect
