I have noticed that google search now displays the 8 main pages in a website below the main website link, when you do a search on some websites. Eg,do a search for americas cup, and it will display the search result for amerascup.com with 8 other links to differents sections in the website. I have a website but it only displays the homepage link. Anyone know how to set it up so it displays the main sections of a website?

Have a look at google they have a page which describes what meta tags the robots look for and from memory there is a tag which tells the robots to follow this link for sub content.

I think you are referring to a Google custom search engine, which you assign from Google Coop (http://www.google.com/coop/) to embed in your web site, which I have trialed in my web site. It’s a bit tedious/time consuming, because you need the URL’s and/or the sub URL’s on hand, if you want to add them for specific site search results, and then you have to zigzag within coop to retrieve the code, then you might have to trial the form, and so on. Maybe this is what you want?

So… the procedure is a bit like this…Click on create custom search engine, then the banner - Create a Custom Search Engine - then sign in with your Gmail account, then carefully choose your options in the form. Click on finish, and then click on control panel next to your form’s name, to check settings, then on Google home page to get the code near the bottom…this will take you to Google Gadgets. Click on: get the code - you can change dimensions, title, borders, etc. Then paste in your site. But you may have to trial it for placement, visibility, searching, and so on…

You can also include ads to make money (but probably need to have a adsense account- I have made a little money using ads for my custom search). I had to create a search-landing page within my site to display the ads and search results, but I’m not sure if you have to now…

You can also get custom search referral forms at Google adsense and various specific forms directly from Google gadgets, or on the fly (http://www.google.com/coop/cse/onthefly)(for sites from your links) from Google coops. There is also the advanced Google Custom search (http://www.google.com/coop/docs/cse/) using custom specification links…
