Could someone please tell me how to use the frames in Dreamweaver so that they appear all together on a certain page, rather than there single documents. I can only set up the frames in dreamweaver but it will not stay the same when i upload it to my website.

the layout i want is a top frame for the title, side frame for the menu and an area for the body of the web page which is the only thing that changes when you go to another link. i am only relativity new at using dreamweaver.

You know that frames are evil? & I don’t recommend using them.

Can you post the code your using? & if possible the website address?

If frames are not very good to work with can you tell me how to get columns using div tags so that i can have a menu down the left side along with the body in the middle, and also have the whole web page centered so that it suites any size screen.

Name each frame.
Eg. Menu, Main
In your menu when you click a link you set it to open in main.
Eg Set Target Frame main.

But if you name the frames the names should also show up in that target list.

With frames you end up with extra files. You have the one that holds the info about the frame configuration
Your menu frame
Your Main frame
If you just split in two.

I have just had a look at http://astronomyguide.byethost4.com/ & I can see text on the left hand side "Menu" & I can see the text in the middle of the page as well.

How can i use columns with div tags so that i can make the page without using a frame. and is it possible to use table so that the align in the center of the page like div tags.

that page wouldn't take long to layout in tables. starting off with a blank page insert tables and use the split/merge table tool.....

maybe something like this linky will get you started
