OS: XP Pro

A big chunk of solid red fragmented files is always there no matter how many times I run disk defragmentation. Run in Safe Mode as well but the red chunk just refuses to turn to blue!

Any idea why and how to do it right?

Try O&O Defrag Free edition http://www.majorgeeks.com/O&O_Defrag_2000_Freeware_Edition_d4545.html
Works better than the incumbent Defrag program

windows defrag dosent work squire.
If you defrag finish defrag again it dosent go much faster.
I think in the old days it might have made the computer access faster it dosent make nano second difference now days.
You try timing say opening word before and after defrag and will see no diff.
It looks good dosent it? I could watch it for hours free spaces being filled up almost sexual.

Defragmentation is a waste of time. It was useful a decade ago but technology has moved on. Modern filesystem + big drive = no fragmentation problems.

Turn off your page file then defragment. That should get rid of the red bars.

Don't forget to take note of the settings first and put it back how it was afterwards.
