Recently changed graphics card from GeForce 6600 to 7950, expanded RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb and replaced power supply to drive all this clobber. Today tried to play a DVD movie on the beast (which used to work with old innards). Now it says "WMP cannot play DVD - try lowering display settings" (which made no difference). Any ideas why it cannot play the DVD? Regional settings? or other?

Use something better than WMP.

Probably something to do with the video driver, if you haven't changed any other software

You've got the latest driver for your new card, right?

Yes - latest drivers installed at installation......really curious to know WHY the refusal to play now......

You could try this (http://www.videolan.org/)

I think most of the users here use it.

I use this (http://www.dvd-x-player.com/) but it isnt free.

Or if Powerdvd came with your DVD/burner, install that.
