View Full Version : logging out from network

I have a network of about 50 computers using a linux server and the workstations running win98. It is at a boarding school. I would like an application that automatically logs out a user after say, 5 minutes of inactivity.

I would have thought that this would be an important feature in any network system.

Any ideas?

The question needs to be more specific, turn off the
computer, turn off windows or turn off the internet server.I havent looked into it but I would guess its
all some where in the windows system or it could
be part of the system that monitors what is down-
loaded. The obvious function is the screensaver
so information is retrievable and any idea you have about the shutdown process could be linked to this ,on an individual computer basis.
Needs to be more specific!

I was looking for the samesort of thing a while back - logging a terminal off when a person has forgotten to do it

The best I've come up with so fir is a screensaver called ActiveSaver from www.winability.com/activesaver. It's dead easy to use and can be quite 'brutal' with applications still open if you want it to be.
If anyone knows of anything else similar I would be very interested
Hope this helps
