I am considering purchasing a mouse for our Laptop and would like advice from any members of PressF1 who have had experience with this accessory.

Our Laptop is fitted with Bluetooth but I have heard that when a Bluetooth mouse is used there is often a 'lag' before it awakes, while in intermittent use.
Perhaps an optical wired mouse would suffice... Any thoughts?

ps. I wonder if the plural of Bluetooth Mouse is: 'Blueteeth Mice'. Teehee!

A wired USB optical mouse will do the job.

I got a Logitech V450 cordless laser mouse for my laptop yesterday... about $75.00

has a very small usb dongle that plugs back into the bottom of the mouse when not in use.

So far it's great... almost as good as my MX 100 laser.

I have a "Microsoft Wireless Optical Notebook Mouse 3000" (has a tiny receiver) which I bought for around $50. It's excellent - a single AA battery (non-rechargable) lasts about 3 months of solid use. I'm not sure if it's still available, but I would thoroughly recommend it.

Same here. These work great with my ThinkPad. I like the ones where the receiver fits into the mouse when its not in use like this:

Edit: BTW, I've been using a Wireless Mouse/KB combo for 6 months and the batteries have never died ONCE.

I used to have a Microsoft Notebook Optical 4000 (http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?item=MSEMSO3060) and it was probably my favorite mouse ever. Dropped it in a toilet bout a month ago and replaced it with a Logitech V270 Bluetooth (http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?item=MSELOG1634) one.

Things like side scrolling and the 3rd button missing from the bluetooth one always bugs me. There's definitely a lag from 'sleep' too with the bluetooth mouse and having to keep the bluetooth on when using the mouse isn't exactly going to help battery life if using your notebook away from a plug.

Really keen on the VX Revolution from Logitech (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/165&cl=nz,en) but waay too pricey for my wallet. I'm not usually one for button/function overload but that is one sexy mouse you have to admit.

Same with the Mighty Mouse (http://store.apple.com/0800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/nzstore?productLearnMore=MA272ZM/A) on the other end of the scale of sexy and sorta expensive. There's a few around the office and they're really functional but the scroll nipple stuffs out if you don't keep it super clean all the time.

I would like to think it slipped out of your pocket and landed in the loo, but the mind does boggle ....

Teehee, I will be most careful with my new mouse when using the laptop in the bathroom, as it seems that these gadgets are not waterproof!
