View Full Version : [Help Please!] Mouse Freezes on and off, but keyboard works as normal.

08-06-2007, 04:47 PM
Hi everyone,

My mouse freezes for abouit 2-5 seconds every few mins. Somtimes it freezes and does not move at all while keyboard works fine. The only way to get it working again is to reboot the computer or to unplug the mouse and put it back in (USB mouse).

On my computer, when you pull out a USB device, it makes a beeping sound. Each time the mouse freezees, it makes that same sound.

I had scanned my computer with AVG, SpyBot and I use AlarmZone and WinPatrol to protect my computer, but found nothing.

This had been driving me crazy for the past 3 days. I do not know where else to turn to. Please help!

Thanks, Julie

Speedy Gonzales

sounds like a faulty mouse/mouse cable. is the beep you're talking about a two tone- "bong bong" type sound?

I unplugged the mouse from the back and put it in the front USB port and it still does the same. As for the sound; yes, it is two tone. "Bong Dong" type sound.

I would say the mouse has seen it's last useful days. probably caused by cables inside becoming weak and frayed - it's not uncommon. you don't have a microsoft mouse by any chance?

08-06-2007, 05:05 PM
No, it's the default Dell mouse that I had for less then 2 years. =(

08-06-2007, 05:08 PM
oh ok. :groan: dell.:xmouth: it probably wouldn't be worth trying to get it fixed...new mice:lol: are only about $20 for a standard 3 button one now.;)

08-06-2007, 05:09 PM
If it just a new mouse, that would not be a problem, but i'm worried someone is trying to log my mouse movements or maybe takening screenshouts of what im doing. Since it's every few mins, it seems like it lags from 3rd party screenshots.

08-06-2007, 05:13 PM
Theoreticaly it would be possible... but highly unlikely.:) i've seen these exact symptops before.. and it's been a dead mouse in each case.

08-06-2007, 05:13 PM
Not to be rude or anything, but before I go out and get a new mouse, I would like to have a second opinon.. . Speedy? :)

Log looks ok to me.

Put hijackthis in its own folder run it again tick these entries and tick fix checked. Close browser/s

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CuteReminder] C:\Program Files\CuteReminder\CuteReminder.exe

O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

Uninstall ALL versions of Sun Java. The link is in my sig below. Its now up to 6 update 1.

It could be the mouse, the MS mouse I had, didnt freeze but it kept turning itself off, so it went in the bin. Got another mouse it works fine.

By all means...my word is not law!!! Hope you get your problem sorted :)

08-06-2007, 05:39 PM
