View Full Version : Downgraded from windows vista to xp, problem with network adapters

09-05-2007, 04:29 AM
Hi, Yesterday i downgraded my gateway notebook from Windows vista, to Windows Xp. The notebook has a built-in network adapter but my device manager doesn't have a entry for it. I need help in figuring out what to do, i checked my BIOS menu and everything is "enabled". Im thinking since the notebook came with no install cd's for my built-in adapter, the software must have came with it, and now is gone since i downgraded. Any help would be great.

-David thanks.

Driver should be able to be downloaded from the gateway site, use something like Everest to find out which one you have.

Sometimes XP want even "see" hardware untill it has a driver for it.
Gateway seems to have a good driver download site here http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/ddaStep.asp?Tab=All

if possible find what the chipset is, then chuck the latest chipset drivers on from the gateway website. also do a custon windows update, sometimes that will recognise the adaptor too.
Good luck
