Hi, I'm currently with Telstraclear cable internet, i have noticed when i have the internet connected to my computer by Lan port or USB , the internet has been used constantly (always about 15 kb/sec to 17 kb/sec) even though when no one is using the computer at all, at first i thought maybe some spy/adware on my computer is causing this, but i have scanned my computer with Kaspersky Internet Security (fully up to date), and fully scanned my computer with Ad-Aware, after all that it didn't do any good, it was still the same.

I'm just wondering if anyone know or have an idea what is causing this?
Does anyone with Telstraclear cable have the same problem?

thanks

You'd be best to get HijackThis (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/hijackthis.php?page=download) if you dont allready have it, put it in it's OWN FOLDER and then do a scan and post the resulting log here.
Then someone (hello Speedy!) will be able to give you advice on what may be happening...
cheers

Yes - there is a few things there - mainly variants of cws (cool web search) I think - but I'll let Speedy advise you on removal and cleanup, he has much more knowledge of these logfiles.... over to you Speedy :)

Cant see anything else thats nasty in this log.

Get rogueremover in my sig below, see if it picks anything up.

I dont think you've got spyware etc tho.

Are there any PC's connected to yours ?? So they can get on the net?

sorry for the late reply and thanks for the for the hijackthis logs.

*Are there any PC's connected to yours ?? So they can get on the net?*
Yes, there are 2 more pcs connected to my comp, but I tried disconnection the other 2 pcs and it didn't make any difference.

*could it be the fact you are using bitcomet? any other P2P programs?*
Nope, i do use P2P programs but they weren't opened or running in the back ground.

I have scanned my comp with rogueremover and it didn't pick up anything bad.

Atm i'm not sure what is causing this, but could it be the wiring or the modem's problem? or should i just contact telstraclear and listen to their stories?

thanks

Your download speed is governed by the upload speed of the source of the file you are downloading.
If you whant to see what your connection is capable of go to
http://www.consumerspeedtest.org.nz/speedtest.php and click on "begin test now" you should get around 2000kb/s down and slightly less up.
