I have just installed Windows XP home service pack 2,on my laptop from scratch but seems to boot slowly, I remember there was a patch for SP1 to speed up boot times, i downloaded bootvis but doesnt seem to do much difference

A patch for SP1 wont do anything since SP2 is installed.

So,was SP2 slipstreamed on the cd when u installed it??

Did u do a clean install?

Or did u install SP2 after XP was installed?

How much ram is installed, and if u installed SP2 after u installed XP, did u do a scan for spyware etc before SP2 was installed?

And have u defragged it recently?

I did a clean install of xp, formatted the hard drive during installation, It was a Windows XP SP2 CD-Rom. Am running celeron 2.8Ghz with 256Mb ram, with on board video that is allocated to 16 megs leaving about 224 mb ram,

And check whats in startup.

Delete whatever, if it isnt needed. A bit more ram would help too.
