friends,
despite help from you folfs here I could not get windows to properly work anymore so(ab)used the situation to buy a Vista upgrade.
now I need some advise, as I have a 20 GB partition for my OS and a 60 G for data and programs.
to make a nice cleaan windows vista start what shall i do? Format c: and then insert the vista upgrade disk that will probably ask for my original XP disk (dell oem).
I have all my programs in a directory on the d: drive. Since the registry will be virginal I will probably have to reinstall them all again ?

thanks

johan

20Gb is fine so long as everything else is stored on D:

And as for the upgrade install read the instructions posted above in that link.

Yeah, 20GB is about right. Fresh install comes in at about 12GB so there's room to work with for updates, etc - e.g. anything going into the Windows directory.

Does the link basically say install fresh Vista without PKey, then 'upgrade' unactivated Vista? Cos that's the way to do it.
