Hi there

Im trying to understand why my Acer Travelmate 2482WXMi will not display the contents of my Sony Cybershot memory card when I insert the card into its Laptop slot, while the PC is connected to its 230V supply.

As soon as I disconnect from the Power supply (running on the Laptop battery) the memory stick shows up. When I reconnect to the Mains supply, the Memory card disappears.

Assistance or comments welcome

I am thinking this is an issue of a power-conservation feature in the laptop. Have you tried checking out the properties of the AC supply of your laptop? Or perhaps, the properties of the card reader function under "Device Manager"?

Cheers :)

Power saving modes are for when you are running on the battery, so that's unlikely to be the cause.

Does it show up as a USB device when "insert the card into its Laptop slot" (on battery supply)?

I wonder if you have a configuration setup in Windows which excludes the USB ports when it's in "power" mode.
