I have run out of space on C and I want to make it bigger.

I am not sure (since its been ages since I configured it) if C drive is its own physical disc or if the physical disc is partitioned.

My setup is like this

C = 20gig
F = 200gig
G = 150gig
H= 150gig

Out of these 4 I think there are 2 physical discs, will check when I get home on that one, but I am not sure what is partitioned to what.

I want to take one of these and join it to the space of C cause I am constantly running out of space on C drive.

How do I do this and what problems might I face?

Unless one of the bigger hdds are part of C.

I dont think u can join any of them with C, (unless its one of their partitions).

Either format one of the bigger hdd's and reinstall windows on one of them. And make the 20gb a slave.

Go to control panel / admin tools / computer management / disk management.

This will show u if C is part of one of the bigger hdd's.

You'll need something like Partitionmagic to make it bigger (if its part of another hdd).

Or Ghost C:, then restore it to a blank bigger partition.

Or just don't keep installling stuff on C:.
My C is 10Gb, used 3.5Gb.

I don't allow MyDocuments there either.

This isn't a option, most of the new games install the files to MY DOCs to be vista compatible (pain in the rear)

This is whats causing my C: to balloon out of control

Ah, Vista.
Add curry, 2GB RAM, 250 GB new drive and simmer for a day or two. Might need a pinch of salt.
Sorry, Vista is a bit hungry so it looks like an upgrade is what little Willy G wants you to do. What you want is not really relevant.
Nah, MS wouldn't adopt that attitude. Read the advertising again, it is pretty well thought out. The rest of the package slips a bit as yet.

I am running XP Pro SP2
but the games are now made to conform to vista so they save all the data files save games etc in my docs.
I can't change this even though I am not using vista.

So I have to make C bigger, thats my only option.

Normally game save data is very small.

Are you installing all your games on C drive? If so I would change them to one of your bigger drives, sure they will keep the game save data in your My documents folder...

You can always change the default location of My Documents folder to another drive.

It's easy enough to do go here to Kellys (http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_mydocs.htm)

I am moving my docs but I don't think it will be enough
Partition Magic confirms that C and F drives are the same physical disc 200gb in size so I need to merge these two back together.

Can I do this and still retain the info in both drives?

In theory.
In reality - I'd be backing everything up first.

Thanks for the help guys
I have sorted out the problem

Just used partition magic to take a spare 60gig from F and enlarged C to 80gig
