Hi, i m fixin a friends pc and the home page is stuck at atrueprotection dot com. The page tells about virus protection and stuff. I tired changing the home in the internet explorer option to google but when i start the the internet explorer.. it goes back to that particular page.. I can still surf the net by typin in the url for all the sites i want to go too.. I have installed AVG and spybot and cleaned out the system except for the homw page problem.. Any help would be appreciated.

PC is running XP Pro with SP2, Celeron 776Mhz, 192MB Ram..

Maybe i should run Hijackthis?

I have altered the URL you posted as it went to the infected website to stop others from clicking on it.

From the pop up I got on that website, it appears to be the same trojan mentioned in this thread (http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/showthread.php?t=76269). Follow the advice that pctek posted from this website (http://www.technibble.com/how-to-remove-syssecuritysitecom-w32myzorfk/).

Let us know how you get on. :)

First to try.. Open Spybot and go MODE -> Advanced
On left side, click on "Tools" and make sure there are ticks in...
a) ActiveX b) BHOs c) Browser pages d) IE Tweeks

At the left, click on each of those and remove any unknowns.

If all that fails, download Hijackthis, run it and post the report here for what to remove.
