Hi
I am looking at a media center pc and have decided on the Playtech Spectra m8900 coupled with a Sony Bravia 40inch V-series lcd. What do you guys think of this combination?

i think you have to much money and are doing this to increase the size of your e-penis.

none the less, can you post the specs of the Media Centre Machine you are thinking of getting so we can better decide ?

Cheers

Can only find the m8800 on their site

Spectra m8800 Media Center PC
Pentium 4 531 3.0GHz
1GB DDR2
320GB SATAII/
7300LE/
MCE remote+KBD
/DVD-RW/
TV Tuner/
XP Media Center
Vista Ready Price:$1573.88 incl GST

Not what I would get, Personally I find the Media Center software and accessories to be crapola, Not impressed by the hardware making up the rest of the system either.

agree'd.

i would go for atleast 2x the HDD space.

- a much better Vid Card.
- for a price tag of $1573, it more than likley isnt a Hauppage TV Tuner, or a one of their Dual Tuners at that.
- If they advertise it as Vista ready, i wouldn't feel safe without at least 2GB RAM.

Just have a think about how you are going to connect the two, I would suggest that you use a DVI to HDMI connector, however this doesn't work 100% of the time. Second would be if the video card has a component dongle, use this.

Dont' forget that with your mega screen you are going to need some mega sounds, I would suggest using SPDIF to pass through Dolby Digital and DTS audio to an external 5.1 receiver if you have the budget.
Look for a receiver that does good stereo to 5.1 upmixing as live TV is generally only in stereo so will be sent to the receiver as PCM.
