View Full Version : No Sound

I have just loaded win 2000 and have a problem with the onboard sound card not working although the system informaton says that all is okay. The motherboard is a Via Technologies Inc vt82692bx. Have had no luck trying to get this to go. I disabled the onboard sound and installed a ES 1869 sound card. Again the system recognised the card but no sound. All audio leads are correctly installed.
Any thoughts as to the possible problem.
The system worked on win 98 although we had similar problems

1st try installing the latest via 4n1 drivers, if no luck try Service Pack 1. I think ESS cards are supported is the orignal win2000 so i cannot see ne real problems

Thanks Malcolm for your reply,
I have sorted the problem out and this is what I did. I removed the modem & network cards from my PC, and removed all devices including the on board sound. Then rebooted with only the onboard sound being detected by the PNP system, Instant sound being the result, then loaded the modem, detected this, then the network card and no conflicts
