Howdy

Rather than continuing to hijack this thread http://pressf1.co.nz/showthread.php?t=75901

I thought I would start a new one.

Due to less than optimal download speeds with Xtra's Go Large plan it was recommended that I use a download manager.

Can people recommend some good FREE download managers that work with Firefox 2.0 (and not full of malware ;) )

Cheers

I use Getright Pro. I think there is a free version.

I personally like and use Flashget (and download the "Flashgot" extension for Firefox). Works brilliantly, and is free too.

Truedownloader. It's a freebie albeit a very basic program at that.

Flashget with the flashgot extension. Works very well.

I use Leechget. It works well for me on my overnight downloads, resumes when necessary, and disconnects (dial-up) when finished. Also will turn off the computer when it is finished downloading.

I'll put my vote in too for Flashget with Flashgot extension. Works great in Mozilla/Seamonkey.

Howdy

Tried flashget last night, looks like a good program although it was still only downloading at around 7 KB/s. I do like the resume download function though ;)

cheers

its not flashget thats going slow, either your connection is slow or the server sending the file is slow.

with flashget i normally tweak things a bit. turn off the no-cache and play with the amount of splits. faster net connection you have the more splits you can run. also check the mirror search, that way you may download the file of mulitable servers increasing the speed.

I was absolutely impressed with wxDFast:

http://dfast.sourceforge.net/

Which I use Firefox integration with FlashGot. I am actually glad I got this one and haven't considered switching to anything else, speeds are more than what I expected and I actually think it's unbelievable, but I'm not questioning it, if it says it's going to finish in 3 minutes, it usually does.

Cheers,

There's Flashget (www.flashgot.net) , Free Download Manager (www.freedownloadmanager.org) , Fresh Download (www.freshdevices.com) , Wackget (www.milweed.com) , Naja (www.keyphrene.com) , which are all free. According to the latest Netguide.
