Hi, I have two PC's hooked up to each other through a router...PC 1 has a cd drive, but PC 2 doesn't. Is there anyway to "share" PC 1's cd drive with PC 2 such that I could access the cd drive from PC 2? If so, how do I do this?

Thanks!

Right mouse on it / sharing and security.

Don't know if it'll work properly or not tho.

Its the first time I have ever heard of sharing a CD drive. I usually just swap between machines if there is only one available.

I do this as well: Dad's PC is the only one without DVD support.

Speedys idea will work, i use it.
Just share the drive like you would a normal folder.

CD or DVD maybe ok. A burner OTOH maybe a different matter.

From my reading of the first post, all that is wanted to be shared is a cd drive?

True but to some people a cd may mean a burner too. Or even DVD / burner.

Even if they don't know what it is. Or what it can do.

It depends if you want to burn cds/dvds from the other computer, or just use files off it.
