How many hard drives/dvdwriters can you have on one ide cable?
Most cables seem to cater for one master and one slave. Is it possible to have one master and two slaves without having problems?

No u can't have 3 devices / 2 slaves on a IDE connection.

Either 2 hdd's on Primary Master, or 2 cds'/dvd's on Secondary slave.

If u want extra IDE hdd's buy a PCI IDE card, or use SATA.

Or buy USB enclosures. And use them externally.

The cables could have more connectors, but the interface standard allows only two devices on each channel. That's limited by the hardware addressing method. If you need more, you need more channels (on a plug in card) as Speedy says.
