try file save as> and place in a "my movies" on your desktop or HD. Then in iTunes > file import.

I haven't actually tried it myself although I do use a 30 GB Video capable iPod.

or you could as on this forum

Uhh... winmacguy - it isn't as simple as that. Please don't reply to posts unless you actually know the answer.

Firstly, Youtube videos are in "Flash Video" format, with the extension .flv. They are cunningly hidden in a webpage, so it isn't obvious or easy to download the video. The way around it is a website called "KeepVid" - at http://www.keepvid.com.

Paste the URL of the Youtube video into the provided space, and it will give you the download link for the .flv file. Note that it will appear as "get_video", which you will have to rename to whatever.flv you choose.

Then... you can import it into iTunes (if it lets you), otherwise do a google search for ".flv to ipod video converter" - there are plenty of programs out there.

OK sorry, my apologies. How ever that would make somewhere like MacBytes a logical place to ask since Flash is not a native format on the iPod and the forums there probably contian more that a few iPod users who regularly download stuff from YouTube on to their iPods by way of conversion.
The iPod and associated software are made by Apple not Microsoft.
Just a thought.
Think outside the square.

Hmm yup, you'll need something to convert it to MP4 format.

I use Alive Ipod Video Converter. It supports every other video format, but flash tho.

Yer we know the Ipod isn't made by MS.

It doesn't mean there isn't a program to convert video's to Ipod format.

Thanks for that Speedy. I would imagine that with the size of the iPod platform that there would be a whole stack of cross platform codec conversion tools out there for stuff that does flash as well.

Search these forums for a format converter called "Super" by ErightSoft. It pretty much converts any format to any other format. Used it with excellent success for my nephews video ipod and also to 3gp format for my cellphone. To capture the youtube videos i use a firefox plugin which saves as flv format. The use Super to convert it from there :)

There is another couple of ways to save youtube video's. Download a program called youtube grabber or you can go into your temp internet folder and find it there and save the movie to your hard drive. Don't know about a conversion program though.

I think the firefox plugin is called Fast Video Download. Try searching mozilla addons using that name and you will find it.
