I am having difficulty with a IrDA receiver installation. The Device manager shows that the receiver is installed and working properly, however when I click and enable the Infrared I get a message that:
"The selected port COM1 is not available at this time. Hotsync manager will open the port when it becomes available".

The receiver is a DSE model "IrDA Adapter".
Windows XP Home Edition.
Intell Pentium D processor.

Using a Palmone Tungsten W PDA.

The COM1 port is enabled in the Bios settings.

In my setup there is only one COM port available.

Thanks for the suggestions.

So, I take it the IRDA connection is on the motherboard, and you've just plugged the adapter onto the 5 pins?

Is there a wireless link icon in control panel?

If the BIOS only allows one COM port, try disabling it. ;) That might let the IRda adapter appear as the COM port.

Yes there is a wireless link on my control panel and is set to the serial line. The message is that the receiver is working.
I am not using the motherboard IrDA; the receiver has a serial plug.

Will try disabling the COM1 port.

Many thanks for the suggestions.
