Hi, can anyone suggest what might be wrong here?

I'm using Win XP and a Plextor PX 712A DVD drive.
From Explorer I r-click the drive letter, click Search and look for something

It finds what I want - but instead of displaying the drive letter in the 'In Folder' column, it displays a huge long path e.g.

C:\Documents and Settings\Kirk\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning\1940's

There is no 1940's folder in that path but it does exist on the disk (my 'X:' drive). Also if I delete the 'CD Burning' folder Search puts it back automatically.

I believe the In Folder column should show "X:\1940's".

Can I do anything to fix this?

Thanks - Kirk

Hi, Welcome to PressF1

Did you also select your X drive to be included in the drives to be searched? If you didn't, this could be way it only returns the C drive result.

The ..\Microsoft\CD Burning\ folder is where XP temporarily puts files awaiting to be burnt to CD when you using the XP native CD burner. Because this folder is required by the system, it will replace it each time it is deleted. Not sure why the search keeps finding the 1940's file there when it no longer exists. Did you clear (or complete) your last session when using the XP CD burning wizard?
