I'm using DVD Santa to burn a video i made to DVD to be watched on a DVD player. The first time i tried it encoded the video fine but at the end of the burning the program crashed, i'm using a DVD-RW, would this be why? do i need to use a DVD-R instead? the files were 1.9gig all up after encoding so they weren't too large for the DVD.

Best of luck, sometimes this happens to the best of us.
You could try a write once disk. The rewrite ones can sometimes be a bit more delicate.
I would also try writing at a low speed, this gives a deeper and more positive burn; there could be other factors such as the unit and/or the media brand.

Slower speeds apparently rarely give 'deeper and more positive burns'; I have a bunch of cd-rs that burn with better quality (fewer recoverable errors) at 8 and 16x than 4x. I'm pretty sure its the same with dvds.

More important is the brand of dvd and your burner like Pentium mentioned.. If its your program crashing, then i'd say its something wrong with your program...
