I'll be interested to know whether people are getting anything like the advertised speeds on Telstra broadband (specifically cable, NOT adsl).

My area (Lower Hutt) is in the coverage area, but I currently use Xtra broadband. I'm contemplating changing, because despite being on one of the supposedly "unleashed" plans I'm getting 2 meg down and 450k up on a good day. (according to nzdsl.co.nz speedtest)

Far cry from the 3.5 down/720 up carrier speeds my router reports, and not really good value for money when you consider the competition...

What's the evening/weekend slowdown like on Telstra?

I'm in lower hutt using cable, no problems getting the 4meg down and 2meg up, although this does depend on where you are downloading from.

I'm in Wellington on their 10M/2M plan. When downloading i average 900KB/s - 1190KB/s (approx 1MByte/s), all day. and use a download manager on slower sites. NZ pings are about 15-30ms :)

I wish I lived in the covered areas :(

I'm in ChCh and I usually get between 3 and 4 Mb down and between 1.5 and 2 Mb up. But what annoys me are the mini drop outs of a few seconds that occur several times a day.
