speeds should be set to 80% your available bandwidth, port does not matter as long as upnp is working or you have port forwarding set up on your router.

Bittorrent clients generally use a default range of ports; some ISPs block these ports, so change the port that your bittorrent client will use (any port above 10000 will do).

Download speed depends upon the number of seeds that have the file you want to download; also, search for a number of tracking sites to download from your file from and include them in your tracking list. More tracking sites = more seeds. Some ISPs can also restrict the bandwidth of P2P traffic, reducing your download speed. Orcon, for example, gives P2P traffic low bandwidth priority.

:nerd: lol. Ihug is blocking ports anyway. But I still managed to find a way to slipped away. My avg down speed is around 30kB/sec. lol better than last time which is 5kB/sec.
:annoyed: Too bad BitTorrent people is not going to enjoy downloading anymore because of many ISPs are shapping their ports.

ISPs all of the world are now traffic shaping to conserve bandwidth and resources for users who are browsing the web, so that isn't just restricted to NZ. It makes perfect sense.
