You should have stuck with the original thread - that way people can see whats already been siggested and/or tried.

You said you did get it to detect in the BIOS in the end - so is it or not?

With this board, to install WinXP you need to load a driver off a floppy - for other O/Ss I don't know - someone else can help there...

I can find it in the BIOS but only listed as 3rd master IDE. The southbridge config was set to SATA and I have tryed AHCI and now I am gonna try RAID. Any ideas? Also I found the drive with seagate cisc wizard but not listed under the motherboard controlers, It was listed under "unknown controlers" and I can't seem to do much from there. I can Format it there but that is meaningless as I can go no further

Reading between the lines in the manual, this sounds correct. There are two Parallel ATA connectors (so they occupy Primary and Secondary types of drives in the bios). This leaves SATA to be listed as the Third Drive for (Master = SATA1, Slave = SATA2) and Fourth DRive (Master = SATA3, Slave = SATA4).

They suggest that boot discs need to be on SATA1 or SATA3. They also say you need to have Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed.

This mobo uses the VIA8251 Southbridge - info and drivers here (http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1180&SubCatID=167)
