Hi all

What i want is similar to what Pressf1 has, on the main page

http://pcworld.co.nz/pcworld/pcw.nsf

The 5 most recent posts are displayed, and if you click on the title of the post you are taken to the post in the forum

I have a site that uses phpBB (pressf1 uses VBulletin), and i would like to know if there is something similar available,
it probably wouldn't be to difficult to write, but i am lazy and i would assume something this obvious would already exist

Cheers

Have you looked at the mods database over at phpbb.com? http://www.phpbb.com/mods/

I know there is a mod that can do what you want :), I am not too sure if you can get it at www.phpbb.com or at http://www.phpbbhacks.com/

Best of luck :)

I did have a look at the mods thing,

I should have been clearer, the site has a phpBB Board on it, but the main site page where i want the latest 5 posts to appear is not part of phpBB, it is a concoction of mine

Cheers

If you can create a list of the top 5 then you may be able to include them using an iframe

I haven't looked through all of the hacks available, but you should find what you're looking for at http://phpbbhacks.com/, searching for "Recent Posts" or similar.

http://phpbbhacks.com/download/589 might do the trick, as it looks as though it can work independently of the forum on any page :)

Thanks
I'll have a closer look at that this weekend

I can't provide an answer (too busy to investigate it), but for you to make yourself clearer, what you require is two scripts: one to gather the most recent posts, which will be a phpbb mod or hack, and another on your site's server to call on that script and plonk it on the webpage of your choosing
