My XP Pro HP nx6120 laptop which uses Intel PROset/Wireless will detect my network and connect to it. I go into network connections and there it is showing connected. But I can't see an icon to browse into the network.
Any ideas?
Do I have to run a wizard on my laptop. I tried using the network setup wizard but I'm missing something.

Greetings supersi. What icon were you refering to in your post? Is it this -> http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/helpout101.jpg that you were talking about?
To enable the icon to appear in your System Tray, go to Network Connections under Control Panel. Right-click your wireless network and click properties. After that, place a tick beside the words "Show icon in notification area when connected". Click OK and you are done.

What are you "missing" when you tried to setup the network? It won't do you any harm to run the wizard instead of rumbling through settings manually - in case you misconfigure something. (not that I am doubting your computer skills, but I am suggesting running the wizard to prevent any computer mishap)

Cheers :)

Thanks for the reply. No that part is fine.
It's when I'm told that I have a good connection but I go into my network places and there are no file folders shared from the wireless network, neither are other wireless devices showing in Workgroup.

Welcome to the flakey world of Windows Networking....

Check that all the PCs are on the same workgroup, are you using dhcp or manual configuration ? Manual is best, less problems, check you have folders/files shared on PC you are trying to connect to and all PCs are on the same subnet.

I don't mean to be harsh or being critical, but what "that part" were you refering to earlier on?

Cheers :)

In network connections I have a LAN NIC, a bluetooth network device and an Intel/Pro Wireless device (it will show 'connected' status).
I would provide you with a screenshot but I don't know how to post these in the forum.

Press prt screen to take the snapshot, then paste it into a graphics program, or something like Irfranview (http://www.irfanview.com) save it as a jpeg/jpg, then post it here (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/upload/)

This site will give u a link. Copy and paste the link it gives u back here.
