According to Wikipedia ("yet again!", as some of you might exclaim),

Support for loading third-party disk drivers has improved. Whereas Windows XP only supports loading drivers from floppy disks while the setup environment is initially loading, Vista additionally supports loading drivers from USB and Firewire storage devices, and CDs and DVDs from within the main setup wizard

Hope this helps.

Cheers :)

Hi
I was wondering windows Vista will detect my IEEE1394. Its onboard.I guess it'll depend on what version of Vista you're using at this stage as to whether MS has included a driver for it. Some of the early Alpha versions of Vista didn't support much :)

If you're meaning the retail version when it comes out - I guess it probably will support it if its a recognised brand. New versions of Windows usually support current hardware, but I think that depends on the hardware vendor getting its act together and producing a driver for MS to include.

I would go to the mobo manufacturer's site. And see if there are any 64 bit drivers for the firewire here.
