I have heard that there is a security hole in the latest version of Skype. Apparently it triggers P-P protocol which causes your computer to become a super node, and causes a total breakdown of the Hard Drive.
Is there any truth in these allegations ?

Where does this rubbish spring from?

What the security problem is is this:

Here is Skype’s privacy policy: From time-to-time your computer may become a Supernode. A Supernode is a computer running Skype Software that has been automatically elevated to act as a hub. Supernodes may assist in helping other users to communicate or use the Skype software efficiently. This may include the ability for your computer to help anonymously and securely facilitate communications between other users of the Skype Software who, due to network and firewall constraints, cannot establish direct connections.

Corporates tend to ban it cause it allows traffic through the firewall, well it has to, to work, doesn't it. Therefore it can be used to gain access to a PC. Naughty access. Malicious access even.

But trash the hard drive? I think not.

Skype does run similar to a P2P network so therefore may become a supernode (as mentioned).
Trash the harddrive ... nope, not true
