I am looking for a new Intel pentium 4 socket 478 cpu to replace my Celeron cpu with.

My motherboard supports 478 pin northwood or prescott processors.

Can anyone tell me who may still have these available?

Thanks.

They don't make them any more, though places like Ebay and Trademe have them for sale, albiet at inflated prices due to demand... :xmouth:

Well try this listingin GlobalPC
478 3.2GHz (http://www.globalpc.co.nz/proddetail.asp?prod=CP04234)

and here :
Dragon PC Listings (http://www.dragonpc.co.nz/c.aspx?r=&c=Hardware&s=CPU&ss=Intel+Pentium4+(800MHz+FSB)&ssid=)

These are christchurch based as I am from there!!! but have a look round a lot of stores still have them shuffled away.

But if you are anything like me, save your pennies and get a new computer.
I've got a Northwood P4 socket 478, and I could continue upgrading but it isn't worth it, as for the same price I could get myself a basic upgrade with all the new sockets and ratings.
It's isn't a dead horse (I'm running Vista beta smoothly right now on my computer) but it ain't worth flogging when there are younger and faster things about.
I'm also considering the latest AM2 CPU's so total upgrade needed for me.

Hope that helps somewhat!!

Intel is upgrating very fast. And it is hard to upgrade from old computers especially CPU.
