Most people recommend connecting via ethernet if you can, but you will need an ethernet card for your comp if you haven't already got one.

I had my Dynalink router running through USB for ages and no problems at all, so if USB is the easy option for you right now I'd say give that a go first.

If the XBox uses ethernet then you'd obviously want to fork out for an ethernet card, they aren't expensive (around $20-$30) and you just have to install it in a spare PCI slot.

The easiest way would be just to plug USB into the computer and ethernet into the xbox.

An ethernet card costs $15 from Dick Smith's and a switch costs about $50. This should be more reliable and faster than using USB, which is not designed for general networking.

If you're going to buy a NIC or Switch, I suggest www.madkiwi.com - cheaper than DSE: 8-Port Switch for $24.50 or even a 5-Port for $19.50, and a 100mb PCI NIC for $8.
