View Full Version : Adding Clear cable to XP/98 network - options needed

Hi everyone.

I have two machines XP & 98 networked via a hub. XP has a dial up modem and i have ICS sharing on the network. Firewall is Sygate (free). Everything is sweet, no problems.

Now I have subscribed to Clear cable broadband for installation in 2 weeks and I want to make sure I have my options sorted before they install.

Presently my XP with dial up is in the lounge; my 98 is in the study with the hub. I want to ditch the dial up from XP and put the cable/modem in the study.

Can anyone help me with the options I have please. I thought I could run the cable into the hub - is that right or do I need something else?

I am not familiar with cable broadband but I would think that what you want to do will work. If I'm wrong someone will soon correct me.

Hub to router is too easy!, config the xp machine 1st with the router, get it all going, then plug the hub into the router and the xp & 98 pc into the hub.
From memory should work straight off....
