Is there a software which can convert a scanned image of a document into a proper editable word file ?

Omnipage Pro is one program that does this. BUT, this isnt free.

Most scanners come with an OCR program. You could check to see whether your scanner has one.

i have already got the scanned image on my hard drive, i want to know if there is any software that can convert that image into word file

No, you would need a program that installs a macro / option like Omnipage.

So, you can scan from within Word.

Then once its scanned, it'll spellcheck it, and then u edit the document u scanned.

This came up recently and the answer is no. You cannot convert an image file to text without printing it out and rescanning with an OCR program.

If you can't print/OCR it, you will have to retype it.
