A quick question - I'm replacing mobo/cpu/video card/ram in a system but leaving everything else intact. Will win XP still boot fine from the C drive? I know there will be new drivers to install but I'm wondering if I will need to reinstall WinXP with all the system changes going on. Jusy wondering how much stuff to back up! Most of it is not crucial but would be a pain to reinstall.

Reinstall. XP may work, but there will be a lot of leftover confusion from the old system. As far as backing up goes, see if you can borrow an external HDD from someone. Copy all the files you want to keep (NOT programs - you will need to reinstall these) on to the external drive, then reinstall XP.
