Hi All

I want to move my full operating system (including programs etc) to a new (smaller) hard drive -- i plan to install the larger hard drive into my file server and replace a small one that is in it at the moment.

The amount of data on the larger drive is only 10GB the drive is 60GB.

Any suggestions?

provided the neewdrive isn't a different connection ie sata then a simple ghost over should do it. hardrive manafactures often have free tools to do it with.

Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/promo/ATI/true-image-006.html?source=google&ad=ati&s_scid=acronis%20true%20image|569208317&gclid=CM6N7f217oQCFQeICwodECGZlw) will do the job. Better, easier to use than Norton Ghost.

There is a freebie drive image program - cannot recall the name but do a Google search or PF1 search for my post on this - actually not a freebie but you can use it for 30 days.

I just noticed that Acronis True Image has a 15 day free trial period.

I use Maxblast, free from Maxtor. Will clone as long as one hdd is a Maxtor. I have only used it for cloning up to 10mb hdds but I find it very reliable for cloning either my whole hdd or a partition. I have also used the Samsung equivalent when cloning Samsung to Samsung Hdds.
