Hi all, I'm a keen football fan and have created a World Cup Wallchart in Excel. It's free and can be downloaded from here (http://www.parry.co.nz/Fifa%20World%20Cup%202006.zip).

I've just created it so let me know of any bugs by sending me a PM. I'd be keen to know what you think.

Features:

Each country has their flag displayed for the matches and the group tables.
A map of Germany is displayed by the matches. When you select the row for the match the row will be highlighted and the city where the match is being played will be coloured red in the map.
The Match Schedule sheet will automatically scroll if your selected row is matchday 33+ and the map will move down
After the scores for a match have been entered the group tables will be updated and sorted by Points, Goal Difference then Goals For.
After each group is complete (i.e. the 6 matches for the group have been played) the round of 16 team names will begin to appear in the match day list.
If there is a tie after extra time in the knockout stages (match day 49 onwards) a box will appear asking you to enter the results of the penalty shootout.

Installation:

Download the World Cup zip file.
Unzip the contents of the zip file to a folder. Note that the Excel file and the image files must be retained in the same folder.
Open the Excel file and select the Enable Macros button. If the Enable Macros button doesn't appear select Tools|Macro Security and amend the security level to Medium then close Excel and re-open the file

regards,
Graham

I havn't downloaded your Wallchart yet, but meanwhile I thought I'd at least acknowledge the time and effort you've put in and thank you for sharing it with F1 users.

No one else has commented so far I guess most FI members must be rugby fans!!!

Downloaded yesterday and had a bit of a play. Looks pretty damn good!
Any idea on what the TV schedule is for the World Cup or where to find it?

Sounds amazing, but I tried to download it and it says 'not a valid archive' when I try and unzip it. Tried it at home and at work with no success. Can you email it directly or post it somewhere else?
Who are you supporting?

Whoops, just tried downloading again and it worked this time. Sorry...

I'll listen out for the results - nil all, nil all, nil all. It'll help get me to sleep.

Cool looks like you got it. My pick is Holland but in house squabbles seem to let them down at times but I think they will be on fire. Nobody seems to be picking the Germans except Germany ... they have a knack of coming right for big tournaments even though they have been pants in their lead up games. Will be interesting :-)

Dunno what the TV schedule is - I dont think Sky have released it yet but should be on their site. The kick off times can be found at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/schedule.html

We are 10 hours ahead so the first game @ 18:00 on 9/6 is 4AM on 10/6 for us which is a Saturday. I see theres a few kick off times at 21:00 which is 7AM so I might be late to work on those days or perhaps a few champagne breakfasts will be in order :-)

I could build the kick off dates/times into my spreadsheet based on the local country of the PC but Im not sure its worth the effort.

Hi peoples, Ive made quite a few changes to the World Cup spreadsheet which hopefully you will all like. The major change is that you dont need to keep a folder of all the images - everythings just in the workbook now. CYaBro you will be happy Ive included a TV schedule sheet with all the matches in date/time order plus you can choose your country so the local time amends automatically. Default is NZ of course

Download while its hot from here (http://www.parry.co.nz/downloads.html). This is version 1.01.

If I find any bugs or make enhancements I will post again. Let me know of any issues by sending me a PM.

regards,
Graham

The first version worked in Open Office this one doesn't seem to.

Download kept stopping with Star Downloader, had to resume about 6 times, kept saying it couldn't find host.

When uploading the file via FTP Ipswitch WS-FTP Pro shows 2 tabs for the web site - one with IP and one with web site address. I have now uploaded to both so hopefully it now works? Could you confirm please Zqwerty.

Cheers thanks Steve. I can remember doing a spreadsheet ages ago so may have been the Euro. I'll make this a more regular thing incl the Rugby World Cup when that comes around.

Thanks for the spreadsheet. It looks brilliant, I cant wait until June.

However I do get a glitch.

I tested it by entering a few scores, and the tables updated, but the flags from the group worksheet now appear on the match summary worksheet overwriting columns B and M.

I downloaded this version directly from your website. Is this a known "undocumented feature" or should I simply delete and download again via the links on this site?

Many thanks
Mike

Hopefully its fixed in this new version 1.02 posted on my downloads page (http://www.parry.co.nz/downloads.html). Since some people are having trouble downloading from my site and the hosting company seem unable to fix I have also uploaded to http://www.savefile.com and you will find an alternate link to this on my downloads page as well.

Just a formatting issue where day isnt being displayed. Used ddd mmm hh:mm instead of ddd dd mmm hh:mm.

New version 1.06 available from http://www.parry.co.nz/downloads.html

Thanks for doing that Stu. For some reason the hosting company servers cause a problem. Im beginning to wish I never used them. On the downloads page http://www.parry.co.nz/downloads.html in the description you will see an alternative link to SaveFile. This should always work.

Any probs just PM me and advise your email and I'll send off a copy.

If you want a 2nd/3rd mirror, let me know as I can host that file here in NZ/OZ/ & a few different places in the USA.
