We are in the same boat as you. Supposed to go to 3.2 (or 3.5?) and seeing speeds at the router on average of about 2.7mbps with download speeds ranging from 800kbps to about 1.5mbps - I dont think I would hold much hope for more.

Better than 256 but not really high speed.

A Few things could cause this..

- you have not been moved over yet
- your line speed is not high enough to get the speeds (your line is not very good or you are too far away from the exchange)
- the contension ratio of your exchange has kicked in and you are sharing the bandwidth with lots of others.

- Remember.... the Speeds have NO guarentee..You are guarenteed nothing.

Xtra have advised that they will be proggressively upgrading accounts over April and beyond.

Well I have been moved. Router now reports 4288.

Pity as download speeds are barely 256k.

When I had 2Mbps, I actually got download speeds of 2Mbps.

So don't be in too much of a hurry....

Yesterday (15/04/2006) was our monthly rollover & I can say I definitely have 3.5M.

As Yesterday I download a 20MB Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 patch from the Macromedia servers & I got 300+ KB/s (I was using a download manager (Flash Get)

I have not done a speed test check on a speed check site, but I will latter on today.

PS: Iam with Xtra & use to be on the 2M plan

Just as aside to this thread has anybody out there managed to achieve anything like full speed on the 3.5Mbps upgrade without a dedicated splitter cable i.e. you are using filters?

Don't know about Xtra, but with IHug I filled in the form "alter plan", and e-mailed it.
Got a reply that my change had been approved and within 24 hours I was up and running at 3.x.

Download Speed: 3131 kbps (391.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 134 kbps (16.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Hello
And for rural people like me:
Xtra said:
You are on the Xtra Broadband Go plan. Speeds for this plan should be up to 2MB download and 128kbps upload.

This is what the DSL test said:
"Your current bandwidth reading is:
61.50kbps
which means you can download at 7.69 KB/sec. from our servers."

Anyone of you that can share the same "jet(snail) speeds".

My friend is on Xtra broadband, and although the speedtest says he should get 1.8mbit, his download speeds are the same as my 256k connection
