My poor monitor... it's done its job so valiantly for many years. Over 5 anyway. It's a ViewSonic GS771. CRT.

Recently it started to occasionally stay blank but with the green light on upon booting the computer. Turning it off and on a few times would bring it back to life. But it did it more and more often, and it would take more and more on/offs to get it to go, until... no more. I've tried it on another computer: same symptoms. An old small monitor I have works on both PCs.

So. It makes the normal clink-bzz sound CRTs make upon starting. The light goes green. But no picture. Can it be resurrected?

Possibly. But probably not economically. Better to buy another off Trademe or similar. CRTs are dirt cheap now...

Well yeah, I have bought a new monitor to replace it, but before I dump this one I was wondering if there are any quick tricks I can perform myself to wake it up. Seems a shame to throw it away without trying.
