View Full Version : PC Won't recognize USB Drive

Hi, my PC Won't recognize any USB Drive or USB hard Drive,

Both Hard drive and USB drive power up but neither can be seen, in my Computer

what version of windows are you running? usually 2000 & xp will automatically detect USB drives but other you'll probably need drivers

Make sure you set your USB hard drive to "Master" otherwise Windoze can't see it.

Were you able to check at Device manager and see any comments/errors on the USB Controllers? Were you able to detect other USB device in your USB Port?

You might need to have the disk formatted before it will appear in "My Computer".

Yes, maybe the HDD is fresh with no partition yet. If its that the case, Go to My Computer, Right Click then select Manage --->Storage/ Disk Management--->a 2nd HDD might be able to detect. Please proceed to the creation of partition of the NEW HDD, then format the new drive if it has already a partition.

Yes Mouse, game controller, USB hub, even SD Card Reader all work ok.
But USB Storage can not be seen.
I am running xp pro upgrade. Dont see any probs in Device manager.

Am running win XP pro. Mouse, game controller, USB hub, even SD Card Reader all work ok.
But USB Storage can not be seen

But are the USB storage devices formatted? :D Have a look at the Storage/Disk management.
