My co-worker's pc's internal speaker beeps everytime he gets any sort of error or information popup in Windows XP - needless to say this isn't the most pleasant thing for the rest of us when he gets loads of error messages etc. Any way to turn this off? What might be causing it? Thanks!!

Depending on what version of windows is installed, go to control panel / sounds. Audio/sound playback and find the pc speaker option. Untick it. So you wont hear the sound, within windows.

Tell him to turn off the speaker, and check out this

Start..Settings...Control Panel
Accessibility Options
Sound
Use SoundSentry
Choose the visual warning: Flash active window

Welcome to PressF1.

) Replace the beep.wav file with a short piece of music you like.
(2) Buy him a copy of Windows for Dummies. ;)
