Many years ago I persuaded a daughter not to use INCREDIMAIL and now I am 80 I have forgotten WHY?
COULD you please advise me why not to use incredimail and if you do think it is very worth while please tell me too.

The single reason I would never use it, it that all commercial and many home setups detect all the crap that comes with it (HTML coded junk) as spam, and it gets binned.

I found a company using it a while back, then wondering why their emails did not get through to anyone. Even my email program was binning them.

Also:

Anyone with a correctly configured secure system will not see the bells and whistles in the Incredimail emails, as they are stripped out with blocking of HTML

The emails are about 7 times larger in file size, for no benefit.

Its invasive and a pain to ever try to remove when you have to.

Enough reasons?

I would have thought most home users didn't block HTML.

So would I. I don't think most home users would even know how to stop their email client from loading HTML emails.

Wrong, anyone who reads here knows to block html emails. :2cents: LOL

godfather has good points about incredimail, it has a huge amount of graphics
animatioins etc, all designed to smarten up e-mails.

It uses quite a lot of computer resouces, so it pays to have a computer
with bit of strength, as it tends to slow on computers with low memory

I'ts designed primarly for the domestic, and personal e-mails, amd it pays to
send in plain text, any commercial e-mails, as e-mails with graphics are normally blocked at the other end.

Uninstalling is not clean and a search of the computer is required afterwards.

Having said all that, I have used it for several years, grandkids, elderly,
and friends delight in recieving e-mails with funnies, as it reflects
moods, etc.

It informs when e-mail arrives, it allows checking mail on the server,
before downloading, and will bounce and block e-mails as required.

hope this helps,

Robby

Sounds kinda fun then. Provided one has a computer that can handle it

It can look like "kinda fun" the first time you get an email via Incredimail.
By the time you've had dozens from the same person - always with intrusive jumping jiggling smileys/caricatures at the bottom, no matter what the content - it gets really irritating.
What's more, the sender may not even know that's going out on every email - unless there are complaints - so it's possible to annoy friends unwittingly for ages after the initial "fun."
A trap for young players...

... designed to smarten up e-mails. "Smarten up"? Wouldn't "dumb down", be more apt?

However, with presentation like that, who needs content?

Anyone sending me mail with incredimail gets added to my blocked users list
Don't care who they are, it's trash

hang onto it, you'll need it for repairs eventually
