I have a 450 Watt Power supply that has a 24pin connector but my motherboard only has 20 pins, is this a problem or is it fine to leave the 4 extra pins out?

just slide off the extra 4 pin plug and tie it up out of the way
as your board only has a 20 pin socket, you only need the 20 pin plug

yeah, i know exactly what you mean.
as i said the "extra 4 pin plug" on the psu will slide off.
have a play with it, as it's not obvious that the "extra plug" actually slides off
just tie it up out of the road and connect the remaining 20 pin plug to your board

If the "extra" 4 pin plug doesn't slide off it should have a gap that will allow it to slide over the plastic edge of you MOBO connection

If it doesn't have a gap then you can buy a 24 to 20 adapter and vica versa
